Welcome to the official home of my ongoing GPS sculpture project, an entirely new way of approaching artwork in the landscape. The basic idea is for a journey into the countryside to yield a sculptural installation on site using only materials found on site.
As my work is instinctive and the materials random, the resulting sculpture is unique to that environment, natural matter (wood, grass, stone) meet man made waste in different combinations and situations all over the landscape.
The exciting aspect of public interaction OUTSIDE the formal setting of the gallery is made possible by borrowing from the new phenomenon of 'geocaching', an on-line community setting treasure hunts using GPS (sat nav) co-ordinates.
On completion of a new work I shall be posting the co-ordinates to enable anyone to share in the experience.
This site then becomes an on-line gallery guest book logging responses and comments. I can accept no liability for any injuries etc that may be incurred while out in the wilderness, equally I cannot guarantee a work will remain as I leave it, the weather, animals and sadly some people can all play a part in the demise of public works. It would be of use to everyone to report their findings here along with photographs.
Don't worry if you don't have access to a GPS device as each site can be located by entering the co-ordinates in Google Earth, which you can download for free at http://earth.google.com .

THE FIRST CO-ORDINATES HAVE NOW BEEN ADDED, CLICK ON THE GPS CO-ORDINATES TAG IN THE NAVIGATION BOX (top left) FOR DETAILS.

Hello out there. I would love to hear about your experiences of either tracking down the sculpture 'in the wild' or simply locating the sites using google earth.
Do you find this valuable?
